  • Canadian Forces - HMCS Unicorn, Saskatoon's Naval Reserve

A Career in the Canadian Armed Forces with the Naval Reserves in Saskatoon

As a member of the Naval Reserve you can serve Canada part-time with opportunities for full-time service in your own community. The typical part-time work commitment at HMCS UNICORN in Saskatoon is every Wednesday evening and one Saturday per month. During the summer months, May through August, you may have the opportunity to work full-time on the east or west coast or at sea in a warship.

You may have the opportunity to take part in missions at home in Canada or overseas. In emergency situations or national incidents you may be called upon, but the choice to participate in any operation away from home is always yours.

Most Naval Reservists have careers outside the Canadian Armed Forces in a wide range of civilian occupations. Many are students who use the reserve as a means of adventure, tuition reimbursement, a way to supplement their income during the school year and development of leadership skills. University students may also take advantage of our University Tuition Reimbursement program, offering up to $2000.00/year for four years towards your tuition.

Join the Naval Reserve if you have an interest in the marine environment, enjoy working with others, pride yourself as a Canadian, want to contribute to your community, and most of all, have a fun and unique experience! There are a variety of trades to choose from for which you need no experience to apply. There is also no minimum obligation of service to the Naval Reserve.
