The Cancer Agency is a provincial healthcare organization with a legislated mandate to provide compassionate cancer care for the people of Saskatchewan. Our 900+ employees are dedicated and work hard to deliver on that mandate each and every day. Our teams are also pleased to be leading revolutionary technologies that help make our treatment as effective as possible. From our early beginnings with cobalt therapy, to the sophisticated linear accelerators that deliver radiation therapy to this day, we have been working to improve cancer treatment for more than 90 years.
The Cancer Agency operates:
· The Allan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina and the Saskatoon Cancer Centre, which focus on patient and family-centered care.
· Cancer Patient Lodges in Regina and Saskatoon, providing a home away from home for rural patients and their companion or caregiver, so they do not have to travel long distances for treatment.
· Community Oncology Program of Saskatchewan (COPS), together with our healthcare partners in 16 hospital locations in the province, to provide chemotherapy treatments closer to home.
· Prevention and early detection programs, including screening programs for breast, cervical and colorectal cancers, including the Breast Screening Bus which provides more than 8,000 mammograms annually to women in rural and northern Saskatchewan.
· Cancer research performed by world-class scientists and researchers who provide laboratory, epidemiological and clinical research, including clinical trials.

We perform four main roles; we train apprentices; certify tradespeople and apprentices; regulate the apprenticeship system of training; and promote apprenticeship. One of the programs we administer is the Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) program, which raises students’ awareness of apprenticeship and skilled trade careers. Those who complete the program and register as apprentices in Saskatchewan within five years receive significant benefits: 300 trade time hours, plus the waiver of their apprenticeship registration fee and Level 1 technical training tuition.
